(01)His story

Petru Duca grew up in Dobrogea, a curious child who took his toys apart to see how they worked. As a teenager he built more than twenty kites for his friends in the neighborhood, and once, with two friends, a pair of bamboo wings that he tried to fly from the hill behind their homes.

He chose part-time study over a traditional university path because photography had become his first language. For nine years he photographed people at events, learning to read faces, behavior and the moments most people miss. Later he helped organize events and learned what it means to build something with a team.

His mother was diagnosed with advanced lung cancer when he was sixteen. Doctors gave her three months; she lived seven more years and became a grandmother to five. Her courage, her faith and her refusal to give up are at the heart of everything he writes.

Petru drove a truck for seven years. He wrote about sixty percent of You Are My Book during that time, turning every break on the road into a page. The book is his invitation to readers to ask better questions, accept their past and take ownership of what comes next.

Petru Duca, full length, in a hotel lobby

Hello! I am Petru Duca, a traveler in search of knowledge and exploration of the soul. From the very beginning, I have been captivated by the transforming power of knowledge and how it can change not only our lives, but also the way we see ourselves and the world around us.

In my book, I open my heart and share with you not only the experiences and knowledge I have gathered, but also the deep emotions and reflections that have shaped my journey. Your story is my example, and my example is your story.

“What I could change, I changed; what I could not, changed me.”
